Something interesting...
Okay, here's the deal. I believe I know the reason I'm not updating this blog as much as I would like to. It really all comes down to the fact that not much is happening in my life that I would qualify as "interesting." Wait, let me re-phrase that. It is interesting to me, but I get the feeling that the day-to-day minutia of my life would be about as fascinating to others as the news that the President of the US is having a colonoscopy. Although, come to think of it, the aforementioned "event" did warrant coverage on CNN, so what do I know?
Far be it for me to question what sorts of presidential outpatient procedures are newsworthy, but was that a slow news day or what? I mean, I can imagine the terror that would be generated from the knowledge that Dick Cheney was the leader of the free world for a few hours, but still! Also, I suppose that with recent developments, the term "free world" should indeed have quotation marks surrounding it. I am constantly shocked to realize that we live in a world where people can be locked up by the United States of America without trial, and left to languish in the infamous Guantanamo Bay. Hey! The constitution says we can't torture people or subject them to cruel and unusual punishment! Ah, but that's within the United States. Just hold them in a location outside the US, and it's O-TAY! As a side note, the solitary confinement cells at Guantanamo are about the side of a refrigerator. Nope, no cruel or unusual punishment there.
And with that, I believe I have found the secret to coming up with something to write about. No one wants to hear about whats going on in my life in any great detail. Unless something truly, monumentally fascinating occurs, the details of my life aren't much different from the person living down the street from me. No, maybe commentary on what's going on in the world is the way to go.
At least until I go to Japan to teach english.
Until next time!
